A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Mim, Sad. 1 This Book has been sent down to you, let there be no heaviness in your heart about it, so that you may warn by means of it and it is a reminder to the believers. 2 Follow, [O mankind], what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other than Him any allies. Little do you remember. 3 How many cities have We destroyed! Our wrath struck their people at night or during their midday siesta. 4 And when Our scourge fell upon them their only cry was: 'We are indeed transgressors.' 5 Most certainly then We will question those to whom (the apostles) were sent, and most certainly We will also question the apostles; 6 We shall recount (their deeds) to them with knowledge, for We were never absent (and saw all they did). 7 (Everyone's deeds) will certainly be weighed (and evaluated) on the Day of Judgment. Those whose good deeds weigh heavier than their bad deeds will have everlasting happiness. 8 Those whose scale will be light, will be their souls in perdition, for that they wrongfully treated Our signs. 9 And We have given you (mankind) power in the earth, and appointed for you therein livelihoods. Little give ye thanks! 10
