A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ AlifLaamMeemSaad. 1 This Book has been sent down to you, let there be no heaviness in your heart about it, so that you may warn by means of it and it is a reminder to the believers. 2 Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow guardians besides Him, how little do you mind. 3 How many towns have We destroyed (for their sins)? Our punishment took them on a sudden by night or while they slept for their afternoon rest. 4 When (thus) Our punishment took them, no cry did they utter but this: "Indeed we did wrong." 5 So We shall call to account those to whom Messengers were sent, and We shall call to account the Messengers (to see how dutifully they conveyed the Message, and how people responded to it). 6 With knowledge We will narrate to them, for We are never absent. 7 (Everyone's deeds) will certainly be weighed (and evaluated) on the Day of Judgment. Those whose good deeds weigh heavier than their bad deeds will have everlasting happiness. 8 And those whose (deeds) are lighter in the scale shall perish for violating Our signs. 9 And certainly We have established you in the earth and made in it means of livelihood for you; little it is that you give thanks. 10
