And We have certainly created you, [O Mankind], and given you [human] form. Then We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam"; so they prostrated, except for Iblees. He was not of those who prostrated. 11 God asked, "What made you disobey Me?" Satan replied, "I am better than Adam, for You have created me out of fire and Adam out of clay." 12 God said, "Get down from here! This is no place for your arrogance. Get out! You are contemptible!" 13 he replied: 'Respite me till the Day of Resurrection' 14 Said He, 'Thou art among the ones that are respited.' 15 Said he, 'Now, for Thy perverting me, I shall surely sit in ambush for them on Thy straight path; 16 "Then will I assault them from before them and behind them, from their right and their left: Nor wilt thou find, in most of them, gratitude (for thy mercies)." 17 Allah said: 'Go away from here - disgraced and expelled. I shall fill the Hell with all those that follow you. 18 "O Adam! dwell thou and thy wife in the Garden, and enjoy (its good things) as ye wish: but approach not this tree, or ye run into harm and transgression." 19 But Satan suggested (evil) to them, in order to reveal their hidden parts of which they were not aware (till then), and said: "Your Lord has forbidden you (to go near) this tree that you may not become angels or immortal." 20 And he [Shaitan (Satan)] swore by Allah to them both (saying): "Verily, I am one of the sincere well-wishers for you both." 21 So he misled them with deception. Then when they tasted of the tree, that which was hidden from them of their shame (private parts) became manifest to them and they began to stick together the leaves of Paradise over themselves (in order to cover their shame). And their Lord called out to them (saying): "Did I not forbid you that tree and tell you: Verily, Shaitan (Satan) is an open enemy unto you?" 22 They said: Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If thou forgive us not and have not mercy on us, surely we are of the lost! 23 Allah said: get ye down, one of you an enemy unto another; and for you on the earth there shall be a habitation and provision for a season. 24 He said: 'There you shall live and there you shall die, and from there you shall emerge' 25
