Is it not a lesson for the successors of the past generations that had We wanted, We could have punished them for their sins, sealed their hearts and deprived them of hearing? 100 We have told you the stories of those towns: their messengers came to them with clear signs, but they were never going to believe in something they had already rejected. Thus God seals up the hearts of those who deny the truth. 101 And We did not find for most of them any covenant; but indeed, We found most of them defiantly disobedient. 102 Then we raised after them Musa with Our communications to Firon and his chiefs, but they disbelieved in them; consider then what was the end of the mischief makers. 103 Moses said, "Pharaoh, I am a messenger from the Lord of the Universe, 104 [Who is] obligated not to say about Allah except the truth. I have come to you with clear evidence from your Lord, so send with me the Children of Israel." 105 [Pharaoh] said, "If you have come with a sign, then bring it forth, if you should be of the truthful." 106 So Moses threw down his staff and suddenly it turned into a real serpent. 107 And putting his hand in his bosom, withdrew it – so it shone brightly before the beholders. 108
