Has it not become clear to those who inherited the earth after its [previous] people that if We willed, We could afflict them for their sins? But We seal over their hearts so they do not hear. 100 Such were the towns whose story We (thus) relate unto thee: There came indeed to them their messengers with clear (signs): But they would not believe what they had rejected before. Thus doth Allah seal up the hearts of those who reject faith. 101 We found most of them untrue to their covenants, indeed We found most of them to be defiant. 102 AND AFTER those [early people] We sent Moses with Our messages unto Pharaoh and his great ones, and they wilfully rejected them: and behold what happened in the end to those spreaders of corruption! 103 Moses said: "O Pharaoh! I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds,- 104 [Who is] obligated not to say about Allah except the truth. I have come to you with clear evidence from your Lord, so send with me the Children of Israel." 105 He said: "If you have brought a sign then display it, if what you say is true." 106 He threw down his staff, and it was clearly a serpent. 107 And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white [with radiance] for the observers. 108
