Is it not a lesson for the successors of the past generations that had We wanted, We could have punished them for their sins, sealed their hearts and deprived them of hearing? 100 We have told you the stories of those towns: their messengers came to them with clear signs, but they were never going to believe in something they had already rejected. Thus God seals up the hearts of those who deny the truth. 101 Most of them We found not men (true) to their covenant: but most of them We found rebellious and disobedient. 102 Then We sent, after them, Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his Council, but they did them wrong; so behold thou, how was the end of the workers of corruption! 103 Moses said: "O Pharaoh! I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds,- 104 I must only speak what is true about God. I have brought you miracles from your Lord; therefore, let the children of Israel go free". 105 (Pharaoh) said: If thou comest with a token, then produce it, if thou art of those who speak the truth. 106 So Moses threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent, manifest. 107 Then he uncovered his hand and it appeared sheer white to the onlookers. 108
