Said the Chiefs of the people of Pharaoh: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed. 109 "He wishes to drive you away from the land. So what do you advise?" 110 They said: "Put him and his brother off (for a time), and send callers (men) to the cities to collect (and) - 111 That they may bring to you every enchanter possessed of knowledge. 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh. They said, "Indeed for us is a reward if we are the predominant." 113 Pharaoh replied: 'Certainly, and you shall be among those who are near to me.' 114 They said, 'Moses, wilt thou cast, or shall we be the casters?' 115 'Throw' he replied. And when they threw, they bewitched the people's eyes and terrified them, and produced great sorcery. 116 And We inspired Moses (saying): Throw thy staff! And lo! it swallowed up their lying show. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing. 118 Thus were they there defeated and brought low. 119 And the wizards fell down prostrate, 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the universe, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Pharaoh said, "You dare believe in Him before I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have devised in this city in order to drive its people out. But you shall soon know the consequences, 123 "I will have your hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, and have you all crucified." 124 They replied: 'We shall surely return to our Lord. 125 “And what did you dislike in us, except that we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us? Our Lord! Pour (bestow abundantly) patience on us, and bestow us death as Muslims.” 126
