The chiefs of the people of Fir'awn said: verily this is a magician knowing. 109 "He wishes to drive you away from the land. So what do you advise?" 110 They said, 'Put him and his brother off a while, and send among the cities musterers, 111 “To bring all the expert magicians to you.” 112 And the wizards came to Pharaoh, saying: Surely there will be a reward for us if we are victors. 113 Pharaoh replied: 'Certainly, and you shall be among those who are near to me.' 114 So they said: "O Moses, you may cast your spell first, or we shall cast ours." 115 He [Musa (Moses)] said: "Throw you (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them, and they displayed a great magic. 116 And We revealed to Moses: 'Cast thy staff!' And lo, it forthwith swallowed up their lying invention. 117 ۞ Thus the truth prevailed and what they had produced came to nothing: 118 So the (great ones) were vanquished there and then, and were made to look small. 119 and the magicians flung themselves prostrate, 120 [and] exclaiming: "We have come to believe in the Sustainer of all the worlds, 121 "The Lord of Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)." 122 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "You have believed in him [Musa (Moses)] before I give you permission. Surely, this is a plot which you have plotted in the city to drive out its people, but you shall come to know. 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on the alternate sides and crucify you all." 124 They said, “We shall return to our Lord.” 125 You would punish us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they were shown to us. Our Lord, pour patience upon us, and cause us to die in a state of submission to You." 126
