The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said, "This is most surely a skillful magician, 109 who wants to drive you out of your land! " [Said Pharaoh:] "What, then, do you advise?" 110 Others said: 'Put them off a while, he and his brother, and send forth to your cities gatherers 111 "That they bring up to you all well-versed sorcerers." 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said: "Is there reward for us if we succeed?" 113 The Pharaoh replied, "In addition to your rewards, you will become my close friends thereafter." 114 They said, "Moses, will you first throw, or shall we?" 115 He said: Throw! And when they threw they cast a spell upon the people's eyes, and overawed them, and produced a mighty spell. 116 And We inspired Musa (Moses) (saying): "Throw your stick," and behold! It swallowed up straight away all the falsehoods which they showed. 117 ۞ Thus was the Truth vindicated and that which they were doing was made vain. 118 So they were defeated there and then, and were returned disgraced. 119 And the magicians were obliged to fall prostrate. 120 They said: we believe in the Lord of the worlds. 121 The Lord of Musa and Haroun. 122 Pharaoh said: Ye believe in Him before I give you leave! Lo! this is the plot that ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive its people hence. But ye shall come to know! 123 most certainly shall I cut off your hands and your feet in great numbers, because of [your] perverseness, and then I shall most certainly crucify you, in great numbers, all together!" 124 They answered: "We have (in any case) to go back to our Lord. 125 "But thou dost wreak thy vengeance on us simply because we believed in the Signs of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience and constancy, and take our souls unto thee as Muslims (who bow to thy will)! 126

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
