The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ They ask you concerning the spoils of war? Tell them: 'The spoils of war belong to Allah and the Messenger. So fear Allah, and set things right between you, and obey Allah and His Messenger if you are true believers. 1 The believers are only those whose hearts thrill with fear when Allah is mentioned, and when His revelations are rehearsed unto them they increase their faith, and who trust in their Lord. 2 those who are constant in prayer and spend on others out of what We provide for them as sustenance: 3 those in truth are the believers; they have degrees with their Lord, and forgiveness, and generous provision. 4 Even as your Lord caused you to go forth from your house with the truth, though a party of the believers were surely averse; 5 Who argued with you about the matter even after it had become quite clear, as if they were being pushed into (the arms of) death as they waited. 6 And recall what time Allah was promising you one of the two parties that it should be yours, and ye would fain that the one without arms was yours; whilst Allah besought to justify the truth by His words and to cut off the root of the infidels. 7 so that He might prove the truth to be true and the false to be false, however much the wrongdoers might dislike it. 8 Remember when you prayed to your Lord for help, He heard you and said: "I shall send a thousand angels following behind you for your aid." 9 Allah appointed it only as good tidings, and that your hearts thereby might be at rest. Victory cometh only by the help of Allah. Lo! Allah is Mighty, Wise. 10
