O believers, obey God and His Messenger, and do not turn away from him when you hear (him speak); 20 And do not be like those who said, “We have heard”, whereas they do not hear. 21 ۞ Surely the vilest of animals, in Allah's sight, are the deaf, the dumb, who do not understand. 22 For, if God had seen any good in them, He would certainly have made them hear: but [as it is,] even if He had made them hear, they would surely have turned away in their obstinacy. 23 O believers, respond to the call of God and His Prophet when he calls you to what will give you life (and preservation). Remember that God intervenes between man and his heart, and that you will be gathered before Him. 24 Guard yourselves against discord among yourselves so that it will not mislead anyone of you, especially the unjust, and know that God's retribution is most severe. 25 And remember when you were few, deemed weak in the land, fearing lest people might carry you off by force, but He sheltered you and strengthened you with His aid and gave you of the good things that you may give thanks. 26 Do not betray God and His Messenger, and do not knowingly violate your trusts. 27 And know that your property and your children are a temptation, and that Allah is He with Whom there is a mighty reward. 28
