AND [one day] the King said: Behold, I saw [in a dream] seven fat cows being devoured by seven emaciated ones, and seven green ears [of wheat] next to [seven] others that were withered. O you nobles! Enlighten me about [the meaning of] my dream, if you are able to interpret dreams!" 43 They answered: " [This is one of] the most involved and confusing of dreams, and we have no deep knowledge of the real meaning of dreams." 44 And of the two the one who was released said – and after a long time he had remembered – “I will tell you its interpretation, therefore send me forth.” 45 (And coming to the prison) he said: "O Joseph the truthful, tell us (the meaning of) seven fat cows being devoured by seven lean ones, and seven green ears of corn and seven seared, that I may go back to the people and tell them." 46 (Joseph) said, "Cultivate your lands for seven years as usual and preserve the produce with its ears each year except the little amount that you will consume. 47 "Then will come after that, seven hard (years), which will devour what you have laid by in advance for them, (all) except a little of that which you have guarded (stored). 48 And after that there will come a year in which the people will be delivered from all distress, and in which they will press [oil and wine as before]." 49
