The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
286 verses, revealed in Medina after The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen) before The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah; 2 who believe in the unseen, and are steadfast in prayer, and spend out of what We have provided them with; 3 And who believe in that which has been bestowed from on high upon thee, [O Prophet,] as well as in that which was bestowed before thy time: for it is they who in their innermost are certain of the life to come! 4 They have found the guidance of their Lord and will be successful. 5 As for those who have rejected (these things), it is all the same to them whether you warn them or do not warn them: they are not going to believe. 6 Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing and there is a covering over their eyes, and there is a great punishment for them. 7
