The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)

286 verses, revealed in Medina after The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen) before The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)

In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

Alif Lam Mim 1 This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah; 2 Who believe in [the existence of] that which is beyond the reach of human perception, and are constant in prayer, and spend on others out of what We provide for them as sustenance; 3 And who believe in that which has been bestowed from on high upon thee, [O Prophet,] as well as in that which was bestowed before thy time: for it is they who in their innermost are certain of the life to come! 4 Those are upon [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful. 5 Verily, those who disbelieve, it is the same to them whether you (O Muhammad Peace be upon him) warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe. 6 Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and ears; their sight is dimmed and for them is a great punishment. 7
