AND [after some years,] Joseph's brothers came [to Egypt] and presented themselves before him: and he knew them [at once,] whereas they did not recognize him. 58 And when he had furnished them forth with provisions (according to their need), he said: "Bring me a brother of yours from your father; (he meant Benjamin). See you not that I give full measure, and that I am the best of the hosts? 59 But if you do not bring him with you, then I shall have no grain for you, nor should you come back to me." 60 They said: we will surely entice away his father from him; and verily we are doers. 61 And [Yusuf (Joseph)] told his servants to put their money (with which they had bought the corn) into their bags, so that they might know it when they go back to their people, in order that they might come back. 62 And so, when they returned to their father, [Joseph's brothers] said: "O our father! All grain is [to be] withheld from us [in the future unless we bring Benjamin with us]: send, therefore, our brother with us, so that we may obtain our measure [of grain]; and verily, we shall guard him well!" 63 The father said: "Shall I trust you with regard to him as I had trusted you earlier with regard to his brother? Allah is the Best Protector and is the Most Merciful." 64 Thereupon, when they opened their packs, they discovered that their merchandise had been returned to them; [and] they said: "O our father! What more could we desire? Here is our merchandise: it has been returned to us! [If thou send Benjamin with us,] we shall [again] be able to bring food for our family, and shall guard our brother [well,] and receive in addition another camel-load of grain. That [which we have brought the first time] was but a scanty measure." 65 Their father said: "I shall never send him with you until you give me a solemn promise in the name of Allah that you will bring him back to me, unless you yourselves are surrounded." Then after they had given him their solemn promise, he said. "Allah watches over what we have said." 66 And he enjoined them: "My sons! Do not enter the city by one gate; rather enter it by different gates. I can be of no help to you against Allah. Allah's command alone prevails. In Him have I put my trust and in Him should all those who have faith put their trust." 67 And when they entered as their father had enjoined them, it availed them not against Allah at all; it was only a craving in the soul of Ya'qub that he satisfied; verily he was endued with knowledge, for We had taught him; but most of the people know not. 68
