And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham said, "My Lord, make this city [Makkah] secure and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols. 35 My Lord! they have sent astray many among mankind; whosoever followeth me, verily he is of me; and whosoever disobeyeth me, then verily Thou art Forgiving, Merciful. 36 'Our Lord, I have settled some of my offspring in a barren valley near Your Holy House; our Lord, in order that they establish the prayer. Make the hearts of people yearn towards them, and provide them with fruits, in order that they are thankful. 37 Lord, You have knowledge of all that we hide and all that we reveal: nothing in heaven or on earth is hidden from God. 38 Praise be to God who has bestowed upon me, despite my old age, Ishmael and Isaac. Surely my Lord is the hearer of prayer. 39 [hence,] O my Sustainer, cause me and [some] of my offspring to remain constant in prayer! "And O our Sustainer, accept this my prayer: 40 Lord, on the Day of Judgment, forgive me and my parents and all the believers." 41
