The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)

99 verses, revealed in Mecca after Joseph (Yousuf) before Animals (Al-An 'aam)

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful

۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. These are the verses of the Book and the glorious Quran. 1 And it will come to pass that those who are [now] bent on denying this truth will wish that they had surrendered themselves to God [in their life time]. 2 Leave them to eat and enjoy life and let false hopes amuse them. They will soon come to know. 3 And We did not destroy any city but that for it was a known decree. 4 No community precedeth the term thereof nor doth it fall behind. 5 And they said, “O you upon whom the Qur’an has been sent, you are indeed insane.” 6 If you are a man of truth, why can't you bring the angels to us?" 7 We do not send down angels except for a genuine purpose, at which time none will be given any further respite. 8 We Ourselves have revealed the Quran and We are its Protectors. 9 (O Muhammad), certainly We did send Messengers before you among the nations which have gone by. 10 and never yet came an apostle to them without their deriding him. 11 even so We cause it to enter into the hearts of the sinners -- 12 So, they will not believe in it: The example of former people is there. 13 And if We opened upon them a door of the heaven, and they passed the day mounting thereto. 14 They will say all the same: "Our eyes were dazed (and clouded over). We were a people ensorcelled." 15
