The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Ra. Those are the signs of the Book and of a manifest Koran. 1 A time will surely come when those who are bent on denying the truth will wish that they had surrendered themselves to God, 2 (Muhammad), leave them alone to eat and enjoy themselves and let their desires deceive them; they will soon know (the Truth). 3 Not one habitation have We destroyed but at the time determined for it. 4 No nation will precede its term, nor will they remain thereafter. 5 And they say: O thou unto whom the Reminder is revealed, lo! thou art indeed a madman! 6 "Why do you not bring angels to us if you are of the truthful ones?" 7 [Yet] We never send down angels otherwise than in accordance with the [demands of] truth; and [were the angels to appear now,] lo! they [who reject this divine writ] would have no further respite! 8 Verily We! it is We who have revealed the admonition, and verily We are the guardians thereof. 9 We sent Messengers to the ancient people who lived before you. 10 But never came a messenger to them but they mocked him. 11 This is how We cause the hearts of the guilty ones to behave. 12 They will not believe in it, while there has already occurred the precedent of the former peoples. 13 And even if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they were to continue ascending thereto, 14 They would surely say: "Our eyes have been (as if) dazzled. Nay, we are a people bewitched." 15
