The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
99 verses, revealed in Mecca after Joseph (Yousuf) before Animals (Al-An 'aam)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif Lam Ra. These are the verses of the Book and (of) a Quran that makes (things) clear. 1 Perhaps (often) will those who disbelieve wish that they were Muslims [those who have submitted themselves to Allah's Will in Islam Islamic Monotheism, this will be on the Day of Resurrection when they will see the disbelievers going to Hell and the Muslims going to Paradise]. 2 Leave them alone, to enjoy (the good things of this life) and to please themselves: let (false) hope amuse them: soon will knowledge (undeceive them). 3 Whenever We destroyed a town, a definite term had previously been decreed for it. 4 No nation can anticipate its term, nor delay it. 5 They say: "O thou to whom the Message is being revealed! truly thou art mad (or possessed)! 6 Why bringest thou not angels unto us, if thou art of the truthful? 7 We send not down the angels save with the Fact, and in that case (the disbelievers) would not be tolerated. 8 Lo! We, even We, reveal the Reminder, and lo! We verily are its Guardian. 9 We had also sent apostles to people of earlier persuasions. 10 but there was never a messenger who came to them but they mocked him: 11 Even so We make a way for it (that is, the Admonition) in the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod); 12 So, they will not believe in it: The example of former people is there. 13 If We were even to open for them a way to the heavens, and they could continually climb up to it in broad daylight, 14 they would still have said: "Surely our eyes have been dazzled; rather, we have been enchanted." 15
