The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ AlifLaamRa. Those are the verses of the Book, the Clear Koran. 1 The unbelievers would haply like to wish that they had submitted (and become Muslim). 2 Leave them to eat and enjoy, and let them be preoccupied with (false) hope. They will come to know! 3 Not one habitation have We destroyed but at the time determined for it. 4 No nation can outstrip its term, nor do they put it back. 5 And they say: O you to whom the Reminder has been revealed! you are most surely insane: 6 Why do you not bring down the angels, if what you say is true' 7 We send not the angels down except for just cause: if they came (to the ungodly), behold! no respite would they have! 8 Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Quran) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption). 9 We verily sent (messengers) before thee among the factions of the men of old. 10 And whenever a Messenger came to them, they never failed to mock him. 11 even so We cause it to enter into the hearts of the sinners -- 12 They will not believe in it, though they have before them the example of former peoples, 13 Even if We opened out to them a gate from heaven, and they were to continue (all day) ascending therein, 14 yet would they say, 'Our eyes have been dazzled; nay, we are a people bewitched!' 15
