The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Ra. These are the verses of the Book and (of) a Quran that makes (things) clear. 1 It may be that those who disbelieve wish ardently that they were Muslims. 2 Leave them alone, to enjoy (the good things of this life) and to please themselves: let (false) hope amuse them: soon will knowledge (undeceive them). 3 We never destroyed any town without pre-ordaining the fate of its people. 4 No group may advance its appointed promise nor postpone it. 5 And they say, "O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad. 6 "Why do you not bring angels to us if you are of the truthful ones?" 7 We send not down the angels save with the Fact, and in that case (the disbelievers) would not be tolerated. 8 Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian. 9 And indeed We sent Noble Messengers before you, to the former nations. 10 And whenever a Messenger came to them, they never failed to mock him. 11 Even so we make a way for it in the hearts of the culprits. 12 They will not believe in it, though they have before them the example of former peoples, 13 Though We opened to them a gate in heaven, and still they mounted through it, 14 They would surely say: "Our eyes have been (as if) dazzled. Nay, we are a people bewitched." 15
