We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape; 26 And the jinn, We had created them afore of the fire of the scroching wind. 27 When your Lord said to the angels: 'See, I am creating a mortal from clay of molded mud. 28 "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him." 29 So the angels fell prostrate, all of them together 30 save Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 "How is it, O Iblis," said (the Lord), "you did not join those who bowed in homage?" 32 He said: I am not such that I should make obeisance to a mortal whom Thou hast created of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 33 God said, "Then get out of here; for you are accursed, 34 And lo! the curse shall be upon thee till the Day of Judgment. 35 Iblis said: "My Lord! Grant me respite till the Day when they will be resurrected." 36 Said He, 'Thou art among the ones that are respited 37 Until the Day of the time well-known." 38 He said, “My Lord! I swear by the fact that You sent me astray, I shall distract them in the earth, and I shall lead all of them astray.” 39 excepting those Thy servants among them that are devoted. 40 Said Allah, “This path* leads straight towards Me.” (* The path of the chosen bondmen.) 41 "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). 42 Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 It has seven gates and each gate is assigned for a certain group of people. 44
