Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded, 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels: 'See, I am creating a mortal from clay of molded mud. 28 So when I have made him complete and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down making obeisance to him. 29 Then the angels bowed themselves all together, 30 Except Iblees, he refused to be with those who prostrated. 31 Said He, 'What ails thee, Iblis, that thou art not among those bowing?' 32 [Iblis] replied: "It is not for me to prostrate myself before mortal man whom Thou hast created out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted!" 33 (Allah) said: 'Begone, you are accursed! 34 “And indeed you are accursed till the Day of Judgement.” 35 Satan said, "O my Lord! Grant me respite till the Day of Resurrection." 36 Said He, 'Thou art among the ones that are respited 37 until the day of a known time." 38 He said, "My Lord, since You have let me go astray. I shall make the path of error seem alluring to them on the earth and shall mislead them all, 39 Except Thy servants from among them, the devoted ones. 40 Said He, 'This is for Me a straight path: 41 Lo! as for My slaves, thou hast no power over any of them save such of the froward as follow thee, 42 "And surely, Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion. 44
