And indeed, We created man from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 26 And the jinn We created before from scorching fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels, "I will create the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay. 28 When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it, you should then bow down in prostration". 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 except iblis (father of the jinn) who refused to be one of those who prostrated themselves. 31 [Allah] said, O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate?" 32 He said it was not for me that I should prostrate myself unto a human being whom Thou hast created from ringing clay of loam moulded. 33 (Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here; for thou art rejected, accursed. 34 Condemned till the day of Doom!" 35 Said he, 'My Lord, respite me till the day they shall be raised.' 36 Answered He: "Verily, so be it: thou shalt be among those who are granted respite 37 Till the Day of appointed time. 38 He said: My Lord! Because Thou hast sent me astray, I verily shall adorn the path of error for them in the earth, and shall mislead them every one, 39 except Your sincere servants". 40 Said Allah, “This path* leads straight towards Me.” (* The path of the chosen bondmen.) 41 and you have no authority over My servants except the erring ones who follow you. 42 And surely Hell is the promised place of them all: 43 It has seven gates, and through each gate a portion of them belong. 44
