Al-Hijjr 4 of 6
Indeed the pious are amidst Gardens and springs. 45 Enter therein in peace, secure. 46 And We shall purge their breasts of all traces of rancour; and they shall be seated on couches facing one another as brothers. 47 No weariness will come upon them, nor will they be sent away from there. 48 ۞ (Muhammad), tell My servants that I am All-forgiving and All-merciful 49 and that My punishment is a painful punishment. 50 And tell them about the guests (the angels) of Ibrahim (Abraham). 51 who came to him saying, "Peace be with you." Abraham said, "We are afraid of you". 52 Said they: "Fear not! Behold, we bring thee the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who will be endowed with deep knowledge." 53 He said: "Do ye give me glad tidings that old age has seized me? Of what, then, is your good news?" 54 They answered: "We have given thee the glad tiding of something that is bound to come true. So be not of those who abandon hope!" 55 He said, 'And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord, excepting those that are astray?' 56 He said: And afterward what is your business, O ye messengers (of Allah)? 57 They said: "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin, 58 excepting the folk of Lot; them we shall deliver 59 excepting only his wife, [of whom God says,] 'We have ordained [that,] behold, she should be among those who stay behind!' 60

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
