Al-Hijjr 4 of 6
Truly, the God-fearing shall dwell amid gardens and fountains -- 45 [Having been told], "Enter it in peace, safe [and secure]." 46 We shall cleanse their hearts of all traces of ill-will; they will be like brethren seated on couches facing one another. 47 "No sense of fatigue shall touch them, nor shall they (ever) be asked to leave it." 48 ۞ Announce, (O Muhammad) unto My slaves that verily I am the Forgiving, the Merciful, 49 At the same time, My chastisement is highly painful. 50 And inform them about the guests of Abraham, 51 When they entered his presence and said, "Peace!" He said, "We feel afraid of you!" 52 They said, “Do not fear – we convey to you the glad tidings of a knowledgeable boy.” 53 Said he: "Do you give me this glad tiding despite the fact that old age has overtaken me? Of what [strange thing,] then, are you giving me a tiding!" 54 They replied: 'In truth we have given you glad tidings, do not be one of those who despair' 55 He said, "No one despairs of the mercy of his Lord except those who are in error. 56 Abraham said: "What then is the business on which ye (have come), O ye messengers (of Allah)?" 57 "We have been sent," they said, "to (punish) a sinful people, 58 "Excepting the adherents of Lut: them we are certainly (charged) to save (from harm),- All - 59 except his wife who is doomed to be left behind." 60

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
