Al-Hijjr 4 of 6
But the cautious shall live amongst gardens and fountains: 45 They will be told: "Enter it in peace and security." 46 And [by then] We shall have removed whatever unworthy thoughts or feelings may have been [lingering] in their breasts, [and they shall rest] as brethren, facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness. 47 Toil cometh not unto them there, nor will they be expelled from thence. 48 ۞ Announce, (O Muhammad) unto My slaves that verily I am the Forgiving, the Merciful, 49 and [also,] that the suffering which I shall impose [on sinners] will indeed be a suffering most grievous. 50 And tell them about Abraham's guests. 51 When they entered unto him, and said; peace! He said: verily we are afraid of you. 52 "Have no fear," they said. "We bring you news of a son full of wisdom." 53 He said: bear ye me glad tidings when old age hath touched me? of what then ye bear me glad tidings? 54 give me good tidings?' They said, 'We give thee good tidings of truth. Be not of those that despair.' 55 He said: And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord but the erring ones? 56 He said, 'And what is your business, envoys?' 57 They said: We have been sent unto a guilty folk, 58 All except the household of Lut; surely we are going to deliver all of them. 59 "Except his wife, of whom We have decreed that she shall be of those who remain behind (i.e. she will be destroyed)." 60

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
