When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 And the people of the town came rejoicing. 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 And verily they are on a pathway lasting. 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 And indeed the Dwellers of the Woods were unjust. 78 So We punished them too. They are both situated by the highway, clearly visible. 79
