When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: verily ye are a people stranger. 62 They replied, "We have come to you about the matter which the (unbelievers) have rejected. 63 "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. 64 So set out thou with thy house hold in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs, and let not one of you look back, and pass whither ye are commanded. 65 And We decreed unto him this commandment because the last of those was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the people of the town came rejoicing. 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds? 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 And the (cities were) right on the high-road. 76 Indeed in that is a sign for the believers. 77 Since the People of the Forest were unjust, 78 So We punished them too. They are both situated by the highway, clearly visible. 79
