And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 “And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.” 69 They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?" 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement, 72 So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise; 73 And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. 74 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. 75 And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway. 79
