When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 "Yet we bring to you the truth, and we are truthful. 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 “And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.” 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 Then the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And the dwellers of the wood surely were wrong-doers. 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to see 79
