At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful. 64 “Therefore journey with your household while a portion of the night remains, and you tread behind them – and none of you may turn around and see, and proceed directly to the place you are commanded to.” 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 And fear Allah and do not disgrace me." 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 He said, “These women of our tribe are my daughters, if you have to.” 71 By your life, they wandered on in their wild intoxication 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced. 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 So We punished them too. They are both situated by the highway, clearly visible. 79
