So when the apostles came to Lut's followers, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. (* To the house of Prophet Lut.) 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 "Did we not restrain you," they said, "from (entertaining) creatures from the outside world?" 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise; 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 Verily, in all this there are messages indeed for those who can read the signs: 75 And verily! They (the cities) were right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now). 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
