And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown." 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." 65 And We decreed for him that commandment, that the last remnant of those should be cut off in the morning. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 and fear God, and do not degrade me.' 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 And verily! They (the cities) were right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now). 76 Indeed in that is a sign for the believers. 77 Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers, 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
