So when the envoys came to the household of Lot, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 We have come to thee with the truth, and assuredly we speak truly. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. (* To the house of Prophet Lut.) 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs. 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 And the dwellers of the wood surely were wrong-doers. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
