And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 And We communicated to him the decree that by the morning those people will be totally destroyed. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?" 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 Then the mighty Blast caught them at sunrise, 73 And We turned the township upside down and rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs. 75 The place (where this occurred) lies along a known route. 76 Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers. 77 And indeed the Dwellers of the Woods were unjust. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
