So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 We communicated to him Our decree that the guilty ones would be destroyed by the morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 and the Cry seized them at the sunrise, 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 And verily! They (the cities) were right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now). 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 And the dwellers of the wood surely were wrong-doers. 78 So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway. 79
