▼ 15 The Hijjr Valley
Al-Hijjr 6 of 6
The dwellers in El-Hijr cried lies to the Envoys. 80 We brought them Our signs, and they turned away from them. 81 And they hewed houses in the mountains in security. 82 and so the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at early morn, 83 And what they earned did not avail them. 84 We did not create the heavens and the earth, and what is between them except in truth. The Hour is sure to come, therefore, forgive them with a gracious pardon. 85 For verily it is thy Lord who is the Master-Creator, knowing all things. 86 And certainly We have given you seven of the oft-repeated (verses) and the grand Quran. 87 Look not with your eyes ambitiously at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them (the disbelievers), nor grieve over them. And lower your wings for the believers (be courteous to the fellow-believers). 88 And proclaim, “Indeed I, yes I, am the clear Herald of Warning.” 89 [For, thou art the bearer of a divine writ] such as We have bestowed from on high upon those who [afterwards] broke it up into parts, 90 And severed their Scripture into fragments. 91 Therefore, by the Lord, We will, of a surety, call them to account, 92 Of what they used to do. 93 Then declare what you are commanded and turn away from the polytheists. 94 Lo! We defend thee from the scoffers, 95 even against those who set up with God another god. Certainly they will soon know! 96 We know indeed thy breast is straitened by the things they say. 97 Therefore celebrate the praise of your Lord, and be of those who make obeisance. 98 and worship your Lord until what is certain [death] comes to you. 99
God Almighty has spoken the truth.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
