۞ Your Lord has ordained that you must not worship anything other than Him and that you must be kind to your parents. If either or both of your parents should become advanced in age, do not express to them words which show your slightest disappointment. Never yell at them but always speak to them with kindness. 23 And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say: "My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was small." 24 Your Lord knows very well what is in your hearts. If you are good, He is forgiving to those who are penitent. 25 And give thou to the kinsman his due, and also unto the needy and the wayfarer; and squander not in squandering. 26 for the wasteful are the brothers of satan; and satan is ungrateful to his Lord. 27 And if thou turnest away from them awaiting a mercy from thy Lord which thou hopest, then speak unto them a gentle speech. 28 And let not thine hand be chained to thy neck, nor stretch it forth to the utmost stretching, lest thou sit down reproached, impoverished. 29 Your Lord gives abundantly to whom He will and sparingly to whom He pleases. He is informed and observant about His servants. 30
