Behold! We said to the angels: "Bow down unto Adam": They bowed down except Iblis: He said, "Shall I bow down to one whom Thou didst create from clay?" 61 He said: "Seest Thou? this is the one whom Thou hast honoured above me! If Thou wilt but respite me to the Day of Judgment, I will surely bring his descendants under my sway - all but a few!" 62 'Begone' said He. 'Indeed, Gehenna is your recompense, and the reward of those who follow you, an ample recompense. 63 "And Istafziz [literally means: befool them gradually] those whom you can among them with your voice (i.e. songs, music, and any other call for Allah's disobedience), make assaults on them with your cavalry and your infantry, mutually share with them wealth and children (by tempting them to earn money by illegal ways usury, etc., or by committing illegal sexual intercourse, etc.), and make promises to them." But Satan promises them nothing but deceit. 64 Lo! My (faithful) bondmen - over them thou hast no power, and thy Lord sufficeth as (their) guardian. 65 Your Lord who causes the ships to sail on the sea so that you may seek His bounty is certainly All-merciful to you. 66 And when distress afflicts you in the sea, away go those whom you call on except He; but when He brings you safe to the land, you turn aside; and man is ever ungrateful. 67 Do you feel secure that He will not cause the shore to swallow you, or let loose a squall of pebbles upon you? Then you shall find no guardian for yourself. 68 Or do you feel secure that He will not send you back into it a second time, and loose against you a hurricane of wind and drown you for your thanklessness, then you will find no prosecutor for you against Us? 69 ۞ We have honored the children of Adam, carried them on the land and the sea, given them pure sustenance and exalted them above most of My creatures. 70
