The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
(All) praise is due to Allah, Who revealed the Book to His servant and did not make in it any crookedness. 1 right, to warn of great violence from Him, and to give good tidings unto the believers, who do righteous deeds, that theirs shall be a goodly wage 2 They shall abide therein forever. 3 And to warn those who say: Allah hath chosen a son, 4 Neither they nor their fathers had any knowledge of such utterance (that God has begotten a son). Whatever they say about (this matter) is vicious blasphemy and plain lies. 5 Perhaps you may destroy yourself with grief if they do not believe in this message. 6 We have adorned the earth with attractive things, so that We may test mankind as to which one is best in conduct, 7 and We shall surely make all that is on it barren dust. 8 Or dost thou reflect that the Companions of the Cave and of the Inscription were wonders among Our Sign? 9 Recall what time the youths betook themselves to the cave, then said: our Lord! vouchsafe unto us mercy from before Thee, and prepare for us in our affair a right course. 10 And thereupon We veiled their ears in the cave for many a year, 11 Afterwards. We raised them up again, that We might know which of the two parties would better calculate the while they had tarried. 12
