۞ And set forth to them a parable of two men; for one of them We made two gardens of grape vines, and We surrounded them both with palms, and in the midst of them We made cornfields. 32 Both the vineyards yielded abundant produce without failure and We caused a stream to flow in their midst 33 And he had fruit, so he said to his companion while he was conversing with him, "I am greater than you in wealth and mightier in [numbers of] men." 34 He went into his garden and wronging himself said, “I do not think that this will ever perish.” 35 Nor do I think that the Hour will come. Even if I returned to my Lord, I should surely find a better place than this' 36 His companion said to him, in the course of the argument with him: "Dost thou deny Him Who created thee out of dust, then out of a sperm-drop, then fashioned thee into a man? 37 But as for me, He, Allah, is my Lord, and I do not associate anyone with my Lord. 38 When you entered your garden why did you not say: "If Allah wills; there is no power except by Allah." Though you see me lesser than yourself in wealth and children, 39 Then maybe my Lord will give me what is better than your garden, and send on it a thunderbolt from heaven so that it shall become even ground without plant, 40 "Or the water of the garden will run off underground so that thou wilt never be able to find it." 41 And his property was encompassed; and lo! he was wringing the palms of his hands over that which he had expended thereon, while it laid fallen down on its trellises, and saying: Oh, would that I had not associated with my Lord anyone: 42 Nor had he numbers to help him against Allah, nor was he able to deliver himself. 43 Herein is all protection from Allah the True: He is excellent in respect of reward and excellent in respect of the final end! 44
