They will ask you about Dhu'l-Qarnayn. Say, "I will give you an account of him." 83 We established him in the land, and We gave him a way to everything; 84 He therefore pursued a purpose. 85 Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it [as if] setting in a spring of dark mud, and he found near it a people. Allah said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish [them] or else adopt among them [a way of] goodness." 86 He said: As to him who is unjust, we will chastise him, then shall he be returned to his Lord, and He will chastise him with an exemplary chastisement: 87 And as for him who believes and does good, he shall have goodly reward, and We will speak to him an easy word of Our command. 88 Then he set out on another expedition 89 until he came to the rising-place of the sun, where he found it rising on a people for whom We had provided no shelter from it. 90 Thus it was. And surely We have encompassed all that was with him in knowledge 91 Then he followed still another path, 92 Till he reached a place between two mountains, and found this side of it a people who understood but little of what was spoken. 93 They said: O Zul-Qarnain verily Yajuj and Majuj are working corruption in the land; shall we then pay thee tribute on condition that thou place between us and them a barrier! 94 He said: That in which my Lord has established me is better, therefore you only help me with workers, I will make a fortified barrier between you and them; 95 Bring me ingots of iron," (which they did) until the space between two mountain sides was filled up. "Blow your bellows," he said; (and they blew) until it was red hot. "Bring me molten brass," he said, "that I may pour over it." 96 Thus were they made powerless to scale it or to dig through it. 97 Dhul-Qarnain) said: "This is a mercy from my Lord, but when the Promise of my Lord comes, He shall level it down to the ground. And the Promise of my Lord is ever true." 98 ۞ And on that Day We shall let some of them surge like waves against others, and the Trumpet shall be blown. Then We shall gather them all together. 99 And We shall set hell on that Day unto the infidels with a setting. 100 Those whose eyes were hoodwinked from My reminder, and who could not bear to hear. 101
