They ask you about Dhu'l-Qarnain. 83 Surely We established him in the land and granted him means of access to every thing. 84 He journeyed on a way 85 Until when he reached the setting-place of the sun, he perceived it setting in a miry spring, and he found beside it a nation. We said: Zul Qarnian! either chastise them or take in respect of them the way of kindness. 86 He said: "Whoever doth wrong, him shall we punish; then shall he be sent back to his Lord; and He will punish him with a punishment unheard-of (before). 87 "But as for him who believes (in Allah's Oneness) and works righteousness, he shall have the best reward, (Paradise), and we (Dhul-Qarnain) shall speak unto him mild words (as instructions)." 88 He travelled again 89 until, when he reached the rising of the sun, he found it rising upon a people for whom We had not appointed any veil to shade them from it. 90 So it is; and Our knowledge encompasses all that he possessed. 91 Then he followed (another) way, 92 Until, when he came between two mountains, he found before them a nation that did not appear to understand any speech. 93 They said, "Dhu 'l-Qarnayn, Gog and Magog are ravaging this land. Would you establish a barrier between us and them if we pay you a certain tax?" 94 He said, 'That wherein my Lord has established me is better; so aid me forcefully, and I will set up a rampart between you and between them. 95 Bring me ingots of iron!' Until, when he had made all level between the two cliffs, he said, 'Blow!' Until, when he had made it a fire, he said, 'Bring me, that I may pour molten brass on it.' 96 Such was the rampart that Gog and Magog could not scale, nor could they pierce it. 97 and he said, "This is a mercy from my Lord. But when the promise of my Lord comes to pass, He will level it to dust. My Lord's promise is ever true!" 98 ۞ On that day, We will let them surge on one another, and the Horn shall be blown, and We will gather them all together. 99 And on that Day We shall place hell, for all to see, before those who denied the truth 100 They whose eyes were under a cover from My reminder and they could not even hear. 101
