Mary (Maryam)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Kaf Ha Ya Ain Suad. 1 Commemorate the beneficence of your Lord on Zachariah, His devotee, 2 When he called upon his Lord in a low voice, 3 And said: "O my Lord, my bones decay, my head is white and hoary, yet in calling You, O Lord, I have never been deprived. 4 "And Verily! I fear my relatives after me, since my wife is barren. So give me from Yourself an heir, 5 who will be my heir as well as an heir [to the dignity] of the House of Jacob; and make him, O my Sustainer, well-pleasing to Thee!" 6 [Thereupon the angels called out unto him: "O Zachariah! We bring thee the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son whose name shall be John. [And God says,] "Never have We given this name to anyone before him." 7 He said: My Lord! How can I have a son when my wife is barren and I have reached infirm old age? 8 He (the angel) said, “So it is; your Lord says, ‘This is easy for Me – in fact I created you before this, at a time when you did not exist.’” 9 Zachariah asked, " Lord, show me evidence (if this is a heavenly news)." The Lord said, "The evidence for it is that you must not speak (to any mortal) though you are in good health for three nights (and days)." 10 So he went forth to his people from his place of worship, then he made known to them that they should glorify (Allah) morning and evening. 11 "O John! Hold the Book with all your strength." We had bestowed wisdom upon him while he was still a child; 12 And tenderness from Us and purity, and he was one who guarded (against evil), 13 and full of piety towards his parents; and never was he haughty or rebellious. 14 So Peace on him the day he was born the day that he dies and the day that he will be raised up to life (again)! 15
