In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Kaf Ha Ya Ain Sad 1 The mention of thy Lord's mercy unto His servant Zachariah; 2 When he called out to his Sustainer in the secrecy of his heart, 3 He said, "My Lord, indeed my bones have weakened, and my head has filled with white, and never have I been in my supplication to You, my Lord, unhappy. 4 "And Verily! I fear my relatives after me, since my wife is barren. So give me from Yourself an heir, 5 Who should inherit me and inherit from the children of Yaqoub, and make him, my Lord, one in whom Thou art well pleased. 6 “O Zakaria! We give you the glad tidings of a son whose name is Yahya (John) – before him, We have not created anyone of this name.” 7 'How shall I have a son, Lord' he asked, 'when my wife is barren, and I am advanced in years' 8 (The angel) answered: "Thus will it be. Your Lord said: 'This is easy for Me; for when I brought you into being you were nothing.' 9 (Zakariya) said: "O my Lord! give me a Sign." "Thy Sign," was the answer, "Shall be that thou shalt speak to no man for three nights, although thou art not dumb." 10 So he came out to his people from the prayer chamber and signaled to them to exalt [Allah] in the morning and afternoon. 11 O Yahya! hold fast the book. And We vouchsafed unto him wisdom, while yet a child. 12 and We also endowed him with tenderness and purity, and he was exceedingly pious 13 And kind to his parents, and he was not overbearing or rebellious. 14 Hence, [God's] peace was upon him on the day when he was born, and on the day of his death, and will be [upon him] on the day when he shall be raised to life [again]. 15
