Mention the story of Abraham, the truthful Prophet, in the Book (the Quran) 41 Remember, when he said to his father: "O my father, why do you worship that which can neither hear nor see nor even profit you the least? 42 "O my father! Behold, there has indeed come to me [a ray] of knowledge such as has never yet come unto thee: follow me, then; I shall guide thee onto a perfect way. 43 "O my father! serve not Satan: for Satan is a rebel against (Allah) Most Gracious. 44 "O my father! Verily! I fear lest a torment from the Most Beneficent (Allah) overtake you, so that you become a companion of Shaitan (Satan) (in the Hell-fire)." [Tafsir Al-Qurtubi] 45 The father said: "Abraham, have you turned away from my gods? If you do not give this up, I shall stone you to death. Now begone from me forever." 46 Ibrahim (Abraham) said: "Peace be on you! I will ask Forgiveness of my Lord for you. Verily! He is unto me, Ever Most Gracious. 47 Now I will go apart from you and that you call upon, apart from God; I will call upon my Lord, and haply I shall not be, in calling upon my Lord, unprosperous. 48 And after he had withdrawn from them and from all that they were worshipping instead of God, We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob, and made each of them a prophet; 49 And bestowed on them some of Our blessings, and gave them high renown. 50
