Also recount the story of Abraham in the Book. He was a man of truth, and a prophet. 41 He said to his father, "Why do you worship something that can neither hear nor see nor benefit you in any way? 42 Father, I have been given some knowledge which has not come to you, so follow me: I shall guide you along a straight path. 43 Why do you worship Satan, O father? Verily Satan was disobedient to Ar-Rahman. 44 Father, I am afraid that the Beneficent God's torment will strike you and you will become a friend of satan." 45 He said: "Are you averse to my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I shall have you stoned to death. So go away for a while from me." 46 [Abraham] said, "Peace will be upon you. I will ask forgiveness for you of my Lord. Indeed, He is ever gracious to me. 47 "And I shall remain separated from you and all that you worship other than Allah and shall worship my Lord; possibly, by worshipping my Lord, I will not be amongst the unfortunate.” 48 And after he had withdrawn from them and from all that they were worshipping instead of God, We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob, and made each of them a prophet; 49 and We gave them of Our mercy, and We appointed unto them a tongue of truthfulness, sublime. 50
