Mention the story of Abraham, the truthful Prophet, in the Book (the Quran) 41 When he said to his father: "O my father! Why do you worship that which hears not, sees not and cannot avail you in anything? 42 "O my father! to me hath come knowledge which hath not reached thee: so follow me: I will guide thee to a way that is even and straight. 43 O My father! worship not the Satan; verily the Satan hath been unto the Compassionate a rebel. 44 Father, I fear that the punishment of the Merciful will fall upon you and you will become a guide of satan' 45 [His father] said, "Do you reject my deities, Abraham? If you do not desist, I shall surely stone you to death. Keep out of my way!" 46 He said, “Stop it – peace be upon you; I shall seek forgiveness for you from my Lord; indeed He is very kind to me.” 47 And I will leave you and those you invoke other than Allah and will invoke my Lord. I expect that I will not be in invocation to my Lord unhappy." 48 Thereupon Abraham dissociated himself from his people and the deities they worshipped instead of Allah, and We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob and made each of them a Prophet; 49 And we gave them of Our mercy, and assigned to them a high and true renown. 50
