Also recount the story of Abraham in the Book. He was a man of truth, and a prophet. 41 When he said to his father; O my father! why do you worship what neither hears nor sees, nor does it avail you in the least: 42 O my father! Lo! there hath come unto me of knowledge that which came not unto thee. So follow me, and I will lead thee on a right path. 43 Father, serve not Satan; surely Satan is a rebel against the All-merciful. 44 Father, I am afraid that the Beneficent God's torment will strike you and you will become a friend of satan." 45 But he replied: 'Do you shrink away from my gods, Abraham? Surely, if you do not cease I will stone you, so leave me for awhile' 46 He said, “Stop it – peace be upon you; I shall seek forgiveness for you from my Lord; indeed He is very kind to me.” 47 I will separate myself from you and from whatever you call upon besides God, and I will pray only to my Lord. It may well be that, in calling on my Lord, I will not be disappointed." 48 So when he had turned away from them and from those whom they worshipped besides Allah, We gave him Ishaque (Isaac) and Ya'qub (Jacob), and each one of them We made a Prophet. 49 And We bestowed on them of Our mercy, and We made for them a renown lofty. 50
